Hi Ron,

moodle authentication for xerte34 is not working

I refreshed after integration changes, closed windows even restarted the browser.

I thought I had to reninstall because xerte would not open up including management.php. It was a sandbox installation anyway.

integration path: home/epikinon/public_html/moodle31/config.php

I do have ftp and cpanel access. The path is correct.

Repeated the whole process again for for both installations
1. home/epikinon/public_html/xerte34
1. home/epikinon/public_html/moodle31/xerte34

Same result. epikinonia.net/xerte34 and epikinonia.net/xerte34/management.php both hang after integration changes.

Thank you!
Alex

Are you leaving off that first forward slash? It might seem a little thing but that's all important!
Your integration path should be /home/epikinon/public_html/moodle31/config.php
Otherwise when you hit the xerte homepage it's looking for xerte34/home/epikinon/public_html/moodle31/config.php which doesn't exist.
Try again with /home/epikinon/public_html/moodle31/config.php as the integration path and let us know.

Ron,
I repeated all the steps one more time and was led to the same conclusion.
-installed a fresh instance of xerte in epikinonia.net/xerte34
-logged in epikinonia.net/xete34/management.php
went to server settings/The integration config path is
and inserted /home/epikinon/public_html/moodle31/config.php
- went to authentication settings and selected moodle
- saved
-logged out
-refreshed
NOTHING
-went to another browser and get this message
Internal server error

This website might have encountered a technical problem and cannot fulfill your request.
Please try again later.

Error code 500 (Internal Server Error)

Thank you very much for the support!

I'm afraid at this point I'm going to have to leave someone else to reply or perhaps you can contact your hosting provider for help? I'm busy finishing prep for training tomorrow and need to prioritise that now.
I have installed and look after many Xerte installations using Moodle for authentication and what I have described to you is the way they are all configured and work without problem. You really shouldn't have to re-install Xerte after trying different integration paths. If you have control panel and access to the database check the site_details table and make sure the integration path and moodle authentication settings are being saved/stored correctly.
The solution will be there somewhere and I don't think it's a bug in Xerte code so let us know if you find it.

Actually having said that are you using the very latest Xerte 3.4 code? There was a recent issue that resulted in a 500 (Internal Server Error) but not specific to Moodle authentication. However worth downloading the latest update just in case.

Ron,

I upgraded to the latest XOT but sadly the problem persists.

Thank you for your help!

Cheers,

Alex
