+====== Table Editor ======
+You can add a static (i.e. non-interactive) table anywhere in Xerte, through the Toolbar.  However, the following page types make use of a Table Editor, either to offer the learner interactivity in a grid format, or to manage data which can be presented in different formats;

+The **Table Editor** is also used in **Glossary **and **Variables **(Optional Properties at project level), and for similar Optional Properties in the Bootstrap Template.
+You will need to enter the data in a property titled **Table Data** or **Chart Data**.  This property will be immediately visible in the **Sortable Grid** and **Table** page types. For **Documentation**, you need to add a **Nested Page** and then a **New Editable Table** before you see the **Table Data**.

+It is better to add data to the first row, before you add further rows or columns, because when you are editing a row, only the data in the cells reminds you __which__ row you are working with. To enter (or edit) data click on the row and then on the **Edit selected row** icon in the toolbar at the foot of the table (In fact if you double-click on the row number, you achieve the same outcome).  This opens up the **Edit Record **popup, and there is a data-entry box for each column in the row.  When you have entered the data for that row, click on **Submit**.
+The **Add Column **icon is clearly labelled, as you can see. To **add a row**, click on the + icon just above it. You can also delete a row using the "bin" icon.
+The **Table Appearance** property allows you to set the size of the table, the borders and any shading you want to use to distinguish rows. There are other properties specific to each page type and you can find information on these through the links in the table above.
+The **[[charts_basicchart_page|Charts > Basic Chart]] **page type uses a similar editor, but because this works with bar charts and line graphs, there are only 2 columns, and you cannot add further ones.
+:!: The **Table Data** editor has a tendency to freeze, so that you cannot open an **Edit Record** pop-up. If this happens, save your work by clicking on Publish, close the project and open it up again. This should clear the problem so that you can resume work.
