Aimed at ESL (English as a second language) learners, this short learning object aims to help understanding of the ways prepositions, conjunctions and adverbs are used to link ideas. After presentation of the target language in context and explanation of the grammar rules, learners’ understanding is checked, firstly their understanding of which syntactic categories specific words and phrases fall into, and then their understanding of how context determines the choice of form. Drag and drop has been used to create multiple-choice style questions. For each question there is highly specific narrative feedback. On the final page, there is a link to a follow-up learning object.
