Looking further into this I am a bit confused by you screenshots. Because, the first three are not about matching texts. They are about a quiz. So what's the problem again with matching texts?

In "matching texts", it looks like the student got everything wrong when checking her results in the results page but she got everything right.

You can browse to apps.dur.ac.uk/version.txt to get the version.

I got the URL wrong, it should have been:

apps.dur.ac.uk/xerte/version.txt

But that one is not working either. It's probably disabled by your IT department. Maybe they can have a look.

Anyway, as the i icon is not present, it's definitely not the latest version of Xerte. So, than the first step would be to upgrade the install.

As long as I don't have the version, I cannot do much to help you. Could you ask the IT department whther there is a version.txt file in the root of the install, and get the contents of that file?
