Hi

I'm using ScormCloud to try to test the xAPI functionality in Xerte but cannot get it to work. Possibly because I have set up the link incorrectly. All I get at the moment is the loading16.gif where the reporting should be.

When I set up the xAPI link in the Xerte properties panel for an LO there is a field for 'xAPI LRS username'. See attached screenshot. What do I put in here and where do I find it in ScormCloud? I've tried several things (e.g. my display name in Scorm Cloud, the email address I log into Scormcloud with etc.) but still no luck.

It might not be this that's causing the problem, of course. Is there a guide to this anyone can point me to?

Oli

Thanks in advance.

Hi Oli
visit the xAPI LRS panel within SCORM Cloud you'll then find tabs at the top the first of which are your endpoints. Then if you select Activity Providers you can add one for your testing with Xerte which will give you a key and secret and control over Auth type, Active, Allowed Endpoints etc. You can probably leave the defaults there.

Once you have an endpoint, key and secret you can add them to the xAPI properties of the LO's you want to use for testing. With an established LRS the details would be added globally so that any and all LO's can communicate with the LRS but I don't think you would want to do that with your personal SCORM Cloud account because any author would be able to choose the option to choose the globally configured LRS.

You should simply be able to use your own cloudstorm credentials as well.

If that still does not work, please verify that your server has the php curl extension activated. That is used for sending the xAPI statements to an LRS.

Thanks, Ron.

The LTI link is working OK but still no xAPI reporting.

If I understand correctly,
1) in Xerte, where it asks for 'xAPI LRS username' in the properties panel I should paste what is called the 'Key' in ScormCloud. Is that right?
2) and I leave the LTI link as it is (i.e. using the same LTI key and secret, rather than using the ScormCloud Key and Secret info in Blackboard).

I've done the above and it hasn't changed anything, I'm afraid.

Ron, do you know if the php curl extension is activated on our server, as Tom mentioned?

Hi Oli
I can't check your server right now because I have to remote in to do so and I'm busy with something else as we speak. However I'll check later or first thing tomorrow and let you know. In the mean time I would suggest testing in group mode first so create a copy of your test LO and just select the xapi option not the lti option. With the scorm cloud details added. Then use the xapi link you'll see via properties to test via group mode. That will help test whether xAPI is working before enabling LTI and viewing via Blackboard.

Please be aware, that if the curl extension is not enabled, the option mentioned by Ron will not work either. But it is a good way of separating LTI from xAPI issues.
