If you want the iamge to always fill the width, use an image larger wifdth-wise than the alrgest display your users will use. The only problem is that you end up using a very large image, which isn't so good for bandwidth. You might be able to do something with a custom stylesheet, media queries and styles to laod a particular image based on the screensize.
