I'm installing Xerte on the localhost of a Mac (with El Cap)
Versio 3.1
I can read i.e. the index.php files in both top and Setup directory but when I type in
http://localhost/xertetoolkits/setup/

I get the message

Forbidden

You don't have permission to access /xertetoolkits/setup/ on this server.

I'm owner of the directory xertetoolkits

What can be wrong?

Hi I'm sure this has been discussed on these forums before but I don't have time to locate that for you. Try a search here or on the web for something like xampp permissions on mac. You do have to set specific permissions on the htdocs folder for any xampp application especially if it's a new xampp install that you have done this previously.

Somehow xampp on Mac not always seem to regeister index.php files as valid default files to start with. Please try to start setup with /xertetoolkits/setup/index.php
