Hello

Could somebody recommend a reliable hosting service for Xerte. We currently have Xerte running on a local server but would like to have it hosted externally on a secure server (https).
Any suggestions welcome.

Regards
Peter

Hi
are you looking for support with Xerte hosting or just a web host where you will install and maintain yourself?

I would recommend that you look at switching your internal hosting to https if that's all you are looking to change and one of the most important considerations is how many authors you are looking to support short-term and long-term and with that in mind the best authentication method to use.

I/we provide support with both internal and external Xerte hosting and have direct involvement with Xerte development. I would be wary of any service that doesn't have that direct involvement.

Just my own (recent) experience - I use an external host with Softaculous Apps Installer, which has an installer for Xerte. I'd say the app installer is not necessary for those experienced with the Xerte backend, but it's handy for getting up and running quickly without much technical knowledge. I have also set up https on the site. This is an adequate solution for now as I have a manageable number of users for DB authentication. Ideally for larger user base we would want to be allowed to have Xerte hosted internally and use LDAP authentication, but for now we have to fend for ourselves with an external host.

20i web hosting now has a one-click xerte install. The hosting allows for free SSL certificates to get https

Check their website for details of hosting

They can also host moodle...

I know the original question was put some time ago, but others searching for xerte hosting may be interested
