Access Forbidden on Mac/Safari was created by NB51
I am brand-new to XAMPP and Xerte. I have successfully downloaded XAMPP as it comes up no problem under 'local host' on my web browser (Safari). I have repeatedly attempted to run Xerte setup with it and am getting:

Access forbidden!

You don't have permission to access the requested object. It is either read-protected or not readable by the server.

If you think this is a server error, please contact the webmaster.

Error 403

localhost
Apache/2.4.10 (Unix) OpenSSL/1.0.1i PHP/5.5.15 mod_perl/2.0.8-dev Perl/v5.16.3

I have the xertetoolkits file in my XAMPP htdocs folder:
Applications>XAMPP>htdocs

Also, under the status tab on XAMPP is

MySQL database ACTIVATED

PHP ACTIVATED

Perl ACTIVATED

Common Gateway Interface (CGI) ACTIVATED

Server Side Includes (SSI) ACTIVATED

PHP extension »OPcache« DEACTIVATED see FAQ

PHP extension »OCI8/Oracle« DEACTIVATED see FAQ

I have been at this for hours and cannot seem to get it up and running. Please help! Nora

I forgot to mention I get this when http://localhost/xertetoolkits/setup is in the browser.
If I use http://localhost/xampp/xertetoolkits/setup I get:

Object not found!

The requested URL was not found on this server. If you entered the URL manually please check your spelling and try again.

If you think this is a server error, please contact the webmaster.

What do you mean with:

I have the xertetoolkits file under htdocs

I mean, you have to unzip the file under htdocs.

If you do that directly in htdocs, than the url you need to use is
Code:
http://localhost/setup

If you first create a folder xertetoolkits in htdocs, and unzip the files in that folder, the url would be:
Code:
http://localhost/xertetoolkits/setup

I tried http://localhost/xertetoolkits/setup because I did create a folder xertetoolkits in htdocs, and unzip the files in that folder. I still receive the 'Access forbidden' response as above
